Silk screen print party dress

Here is another dress I made for my daughter. I am supposed to be making the bridesmaids dresses for my sister's wedding. It's a relatively small job. Just two dresses both for 4yr olds. I felt a little rusty with my dress sewing so thought I'd do a few practices first. Also I could play with the patterns as I went along. Here is the first dress, it is made with a piece of gorgeous yellow hand silk screen printed fabric, by illustrator Rosie Maccurrach. It's a simple dress with a separate sash. Still need to hem it actually. My daughter loves it, she knows no one else in the whole world has the same dress. That's really important when you are 4yrs old.... And want to feel really special!

Wool soakers and longies

I decided to venture into cloth with my second child. Now that we have a washing machine and a line, it's finally possible. So far, it's been going great and I can say that it is a lot easier than I thought and actually even quite fun. We are very much hooked on Tots Bots Bamboozle 's which last the whole night through, even up to 12 hours... If your baby sleeps that long! I highly recommend them if you are hunting out a reliable cloth nappy. This two part system will not let you down. Ok, so that's enough of the endorsement... That's not the purpose of this blog!
With my cloth nappies I decided to make some wool wraps. These function as a waterproof cover when using a two part system. You can find a lot of info on the Web about these. You need to soak them in a lanolin mix first and the pants/soakers need to be 100% pure wool for them to work. Here are my efforts and a few snaps of the making process....

I love that each pair comes out very different, depending on what type of jumper i used and the details/ length of ribbing, it had.

Egg rolling 2013

Been very bad at posting recently. Definitely distracted by the kids and my 'to do' list...... Which actually isn't being done, so it can't be a valid excuse, though it somehow occupies my time, just contemplating it! Anyway, Here are some pictures from this year's egg rolling. It was a bit cold this year, so no picnic but still lots of fun and I didn't lose my voice which was a bonus!
